Arrested again: Cops say Clapper behind string of burglaries

A man charged recently with stealing an ATM machine from a Duanesburg business has been linked to burglaries across Schoharie County.
State Police in Cobleskill charged Scott A. Clapper, 28, of Debritko Road, Schoharie, with third-degree burglary after executing search warrants on Debritko Road and on storage sheds in Middleburgh.
When searching for the ATM machine, troopers discovered a safe that had been reported stolen from Cobleskill Stone Products November 23.
Also, working with the Schoharie Police Department and Schoharie County Sheriff's Department, State Police recovered items stolen from Schoharie Recovery and other businesses that had reported break-ins earlier this fall.
There are "numerous, numerous" arrests pending against Mr. Clapper in connection with the other burglaries, a State Police spokesman said Saturday.
Mr. Clapper was arraigned in Schoharie Town Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Troopers had arrested Mr. Clapper December 10 in connection with a break-in at the Quaker Inn, where the ATM machine was stolen and a jukebox was broken into.
Additionally, Mr. Clapper was recently arrested for burglaries in Schenectady and Montgomery counties.
