Himme new C-R grounds supervisor

Bill Himme is Cobleskill-Richmondville’s new Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
The school board earlier this month appointed Mr. Himme, 47, to replace Bill Reardon, who retired in the summer.
As Supervisors of Buildings and Grounds, Mr. Himme moves up from his position as engineer/mechanic at Radez School in Richmondville.
He’ll be in charge of maintenance and the grounds at C-R’s four campuses. The position pays $62,000.
“I feel like I can make a difference, and I feel some pride to be a part of this district,” Mr. Himme said last week.
Mr. Himme has been with the district for 11-plus years. His diligence and willingness to learn––he’s been attending college at nights to improve––were key factors in his promotion, Superintendent Lynn Macan said.
“We’re always happy when we are able to hire highly qualified candidates who live in the district,” she added.
“Bill has good knowledge, a nice way of interacting with people and a drive to make the district facilities and operations the best that they can be.”
Radez Principal Brian Dineen, who’s worked with Mr. Himme for years, agreed with Ms. Macan.
“Bill has provided terrific service here for us in many ways,” he said. “He’s a talented, personable individual, and now he can share his vision and understanding with a much larger audience.”
Mr. Himme has also been C-R’s energy manager, working throughout the district to slash costs under Energy Education’s program. The program has saved C-R thousands of dollars over the last few years.
Mr. Himme won’t continue as energy manager, and the board will appoint a replacement.
“Whoever they pick will get the same training with Energy Ed that I did, and I’ll be around to help,” Mr. Himme said.
And, he added, he’s looking forward to his new job.
“I’m glad for the challenge and looking forward to it,” he said. “We’re all part of a great team.”
Mr. Himme and his wife Lisa live in Cobleskill and have two daughters, both students at Radez.
