1st Christmas train, more, coming

1st Holiday Train
Saturday in Cobleskill
Canadian Pacific’s Holiday Train will make its annual stop in Cobleskill this Saturday, November 29, at about 7:15pm.
This is the 10th year for the train—though not its 10th visit to Cobleskill.
The train is a fundraiser locally for the Schoharie County Community Action Program’s food bank; “admission” is by donations of food or cash.
To date, the Holiday Train has raised $3 million and $1.6 million pounds of food.
This year’s entertainers and musicians will include Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Tracey Brown, CCMA winner Johnny Reid, Shaun Verreault, singer/guitarist/songwriter for blues-rockers and Canadian live favorites Wide Mouth Mason and Juno award-winning singer and songwriter Melanie Doane.
The train will stop for a show at the Cobleskill Fire House.

Rotary taking
tree pre-orders
The Cobleskill Rotary Club is making some changes to its Christmas tree fundraiser.
This season, a very limited supply of trees will be available for two days only, December 5 and 6, at Wilber Bank.
Additionally, the Rotary is taking pre-orders.
Pre-order forms are available at The Community Library and at the office of Leo McAllister on Main Street.
Rotarians will order trees if they have enough pre-ordered by November 29, this Saturday.
The trees are balsam fir and are grown in the Milford area.
They will be cut no more than three days before delivery on December 5 and there will be a variety to choose from.
This fundraiser helps Rotary fund projects which over the years have included the development of the Community Hospital, planning for the Creek Path recreational trail, supporting international student exchange programs, and the global effort to eliminate polio.
For more information, contact Chris Cash at 296-8486 or Leo McAllister at 234-3773.

Stewart’s kicks off
Holiday Match
Since 1986 Stewart’s customers, along with matching contributions from Stewart’s, have raised $11 million benefiting thousands of local children’s organizations.
Holiday Match begins on Thanksgiving Day and runs through Christmas Day.
During that time, Stewart’s Shops will match individual donations made in the 326 Stewart’s Shops.
All funds raised go to charity; no administrative costs are deducted.
Last holiday season the Holiday Match total was $1.2 million.
“Our customers have a long history of remarkable generosity,” said Stewart’s Foundation president Susan Law Drake, “Because of the tight economy, there will be more requests than ever. I believe our customers will try to raise a record amount to meet their needs.”
The purpose of Holiday Match is to encourage individual giving and broaden the base of support for local charities. Stewart’s Holiday Match is a 501c3 foundation; all donations are tax-deductible. Stewart’s gladly accepts funds from groups or businesses, but only matches individual donations.
