It's starting to look like Christmas

The Christmas season gets into full swing this weekend, with holiday celebrations around Schoharie County.
COBLESKILL
Cobleskill’s December to Remember begins with a parade at 5pm this Saturday.
The parade will march from Campus Drive to Veterans’ Memorial Centre Park, which will be decorated with lights in trees. Santa and kids will light a Christmas tree.
Santa will then lead families to the Cobleskill Firehouse, where he’ll meet with kids. Refreshments and other activities will also be available.
ROTARY
On Sunday, the Cobleskill Rotary Club is hosting Breakfast with Santa at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School.
Breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. Santa will be on hand to meet with kids.
There will also be crafts and a silent auction.
SCHOHARIE
Christmas in Schoharie will keep the holiday fun rolling Saturday, starting with Breakfast with Santa and ornament-making at the Schoharie Fire House from 8-11am.
Throughout the day there will be a scavenger hunt throughout the village, wagon and horse rides, a FFA petting zoo, and free hot chocolate and churros while supplies last at El Taco Shack.
At noon, there will be a reading of The Night Before Christmas in front of the courthouse with music throughout the day and a Soup Stroll organized by The Farmer’s Beef and Brew from 2-5pm.
The Schoharie Free Library will host carols, stories, and crafts from 10am-2pm, the Old Stone Fort and Christ the Shepherd Church will both hold holiday fairs, and the Schoharie DAR’s Lasell Hall will be open from 2-5pm so visitors can write thank you notes to veterans.
At 5pm, a parade with “A Colonial Christmas” theme will step off from Schoharie Central with a Christmas tree lighting and awards following at 6pm at Lasell Hall, where a bonfire and refreshments will wrap up the day.
SHARON
The Sharon Springs Chamber of Commerce will kick off its festivities Saturday with a Holiday Artisan Faire in the dining rooms of The American Hotel and 204 Main Bistro and holiday open houses at local shops from 10am-6pm.
Visitors can enjoy warm seasonal delights and festive beverages, hunt for candy canes on a Scavenger Hunt and decorate holiday cookies at Brimstone Bakery.
A tree lighting with Santa and the Holiday Parade of Lights begins at 5:30pm on the front lawn at Sharon Springs Central School.
Presented by SSCS PTO, the fun will wrap up at the Sharon Springs Fire Department with a visit from Santa and friends, gifts, and a hot cocoa bar with treats.
The Scavenger Hunt and open houses continue Sunday from 10am-6pm.
CHERRY VALLEY
Cherry Valley’s 33rd annual Cherry Valley Holiday Weekend will run Friday-Sunday.
Highlights will include a tree lighting ceremony at 6pm Friday with the Happy Haggs and Father Christmas, and live music, with the Big Unity Band, performing Friday at the Red Shed Ale House and the Cherry Valley Cadette Girl Scouts hosting Holiday Karaoke during their Holiday Drink Sale Saturday and Sunday, 10am-3pm.
There will be raffles prizes, and giveaways, the Catholic Church will also host a raffle during their luncheon Saturday from 11am - 2pm, and workshops and activities for all ages will include a cookie decorating at 25 Main Collective and holiday card decorating at Cherry Valley Artworks along with a free Sweater Swap at The Telegraph School.
