On Saturday, the Schoharie County Historical Society and the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley will turn the dog days of summer into a celebration of all things cats during Catstock, one day of peace, love and whiskers, from 10am to dusk at the Old Stone Fort Museum.
Held on the heels of the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair, Catstock 2019 will feature live performances by area bands throughout the day, plus food vendors, local artisans, informational booths, vendors with cat and pet-themed items, face painting, children’s games and activities, raffles and more.
The musical lineup for Catstock 2019 will include performances by Glowing Bug & Friends from 11am to noon, the Lousy Sloughters from noon-1pm, Rural Felicity & Uncle Billy’s Balladeers from 1-2pm, Pat Fowler & Co. from 2-3 pm, WoodchuckWood from 3-4pm, Just For Fun – JFF from 4-5pm and Climb to Glory from 6-8pm.
While some seating under the tent will be available, guests are invited to bring their own chairs and blankets.
Just a few of the food options include chili and cornbread served up by the SUNY Cobleskill Institute for Rural Vitality and Culinary Arts Program, barbecue and festival favorites by Cargie’s Food Truck, and regional favorite Gaige’s French Fries.
A highlight of Catstock activities will be the opportunity to see adoptable cats and kittens while learning more about adoption, foster and support opportunities through the animal shelter.
Admission to Catstock includes access to the museum complex and its exhibits.
The event will be held rain or shine. Proceeds will benefit the Schoharie County Historical Society and the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley.
Can’t make it during the day but would like to enjoy some live music and food while the sun sets?
Catstock After Hours will run from 6-8pm with admission.
The Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley (ASSV) is a not-for-profit organization comprised entirely of volunteer members and a board of directors, with the exception of the shelter manager and support staff.
A no-kill shelter, the goal of the ASSV is to alleviate stray animal suffering and to maintain a shelter to house, feed, and care for these animals until safe and loving homes are found for them.
Donations of needed supplies and items from the animal shelter’s wish list will also be accepted and appreciated.
