Joel Costello named NEAC Player of Week

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced that SUNY Cobleskill senior Joel Costello, Middleburgh, Middleburgh Central School/Tompkins-Cortland Community College, has been named the league’s Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week. Costello becomes the first Fighting Tiger to earn the award since the 2014 season.
The Middleburgh native led the way for the Fighting Tigers to a pair of victories during the week hitting the game winning three-pointer in the closing seconds of the team’s 67-64 win over Clarks Summit University last Tuesday.
Then he was named to the Rochester Institute of Technology’s 33rd annual Harold J. Brodie All-Tournament Team after a 42-point, six-assist, five-rebound, three-steal effort in the team’s win over D’Youville College in the tournament’s consolation round on Sunday.
On the season, the senior swingman is averaging: 27.0 points, 6.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocked shots per game shooting 53.1 percent from the field including 50.0 percent from three-point range and 84.6 percent from the free throw line.
