Middleburgh woman killed in Wright accident

A Middleburgh woman was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 443 in the Town of Wright late Friday afternoon.
The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office gave the following account of the accident:
A truck hauling a flat bed trailer driven by Daniel Youngs, 27, of Schoharie was traveling east on Route 443 at about 4:40pm. A SUV driven by Donna Humphrey, 59, of Middleburgh was traveling westbound when the SUV apparently crossed into the eastbound lane on a curve and struck the truck head-on.
The occupants of both vehicles were extricated using the jaws of life.
Mr. Youngs was treated at Ellis Hospital for an arm injury and cuts to his head. He has been released. The passenger in the truck, Rebecca Kuntze, 22, of Schoharie was treated at Ellis Hospital for a minor undisclosed injuries and was also released.
Ms. Humphrey died from her injuries. The cause of death has not yet been released. She was pronounced dead at the scene by county Coroner Donna McGovern who ordered the body removed to Albany Medical Center for an autopsy.
Large amounts of oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, and transmission fluid leaked on the road.
The Incident Commander, Gallupville Assistant Chief Keith Cross requested that the county HazMat team respond to the scene for clean-up.
The Gallupville, East Berne, and Berne fire departments were dispatched to the scene along with Scho-Wright, Central Bridge, AMR ambulances and county EMS. Schoharie County Sheriff Deputies and State Troopers were also at the scene.
The State Police Collision Reconstruction Team responded and is assisting with the investigation which is continuing.
